The plug on my Dyson is fucked so i'm about to swap it with a standard plug. However, the Dyson plug is all moulded so can't be unscrewed. I've got the fuse out, is it simply a case of chopping the wires, stripping them a little and putting them into the new plug or is there anything fancy hidden in the Dyson plug?? i.e. will I die if it just put a standard plug in its place??

should be a simple re-wire, but i wouldn't be surprised if the wires weren't colour coded in the cable.

Yeah just cut it off, trim the outer sheath back a couple of centremeters, well prob be double insualted so may only be 2 wires, live and neutral, wire to new plug as normal.

right so i've whacked it all together, just checking though - brown is normally live, blue negative yeh? There are only 2 wires, this fairly normal?
First time i've actually ever changed a plug so just wanna make sure its not lethal!

yes it's a class 2 product so it is double insulated. therefore it has only line and neutral. brown wire is the live conductor blue is neutral. however, it doesn't actually make a difference to the operation of the vac if you had the polarity reversed. i'd still double check it though to make sure it is right.
