11 and 12 are the "standby" channels aren't they like CBs are ch19 iirc?

With water craft Channel 37 is for normal traffic, i.e. when we race we get the course and start sequence, channel 16 is for major shipping and coastguards, all of the other channels are for if you want to just have a chat. Contact each other on 37 and then move to another channel.
Most sets have a duel watch with channel 16 and what ever other channel you want.
