Ok so the other day this little green box was left outside our door with a note in it telling us that now we have to put all our food waste in this box then put the contents of the box into bio-degradable bags then it gets left in your garden waste bin, along with paper and cardboard packaging aswell. So basically the kitchen bin is good for fuck all now as you're not allowed to put anything in it, normal bin bags are no longer allowed in your normal wheelie bin either. What a fucking joke. They are also saying if people continually get this wrong they will fine you and the bin men will refuse to take your bins away if things are in the wrong bin, has this happened to anyone else yet?

Cans, bottles, paper & food all go in the same bin here. I broke the little green box by reversing and crushing it against a wall by accident.

I think its an excellent idea. In my house here with 4 people living together, we have about one black bag of rubbish ever 2 or 3 weeks between us, all the rest we recycle.

Think of all the pensioners though, they won't have fucking clue what to do, most of them don't even know what day it is.

What will the people do who live in the small houses with a small back yard. Its just going to end up full of bins and recycling boxes!

We've got Brown for paper and garden stuff, Blue for glass and plastics, and black for other waste.
That's enough really. Having them completely seperate would be a pain in the arse

At the minute we have
Brown bin for general waste
Green bin for garden waste
Black box for cans and glass jars/bottles
Blue bag for papers and card
pink bag for plastic bottles
Ans if its windy, the bags are flying around the street when they've been emptied as there is no where to put them!

here we have a
green bin for garden waste
black bin for general waste
green box for paper and glass
white bag for cardboard and plastic
the bag is soon to be changed as the bags empty onto the streets with abit of wind and will be replaced by another box
its getting abit silly in my opinion

Someone nicked our pink bag
Blue bag I've not seen for a while either
Green bin's behind the Saab on the drive, it's been full since about Feb but we can't shift the Saab to get it emptied
That leaves us with just the brown bin and the black box

We got clear bags that we can use for paper, cardboard, tins and plastics (so pretty much everything), then food waste goes in green box. I take bottles to the recycling point when i go to the supermarket too so theres very little that ever goes in the waste now.

2 wheely bins. Dark green for general waste. Light green for plastic's/tins/papers. Although the rotate the collection each week. so 1 week its the recycle bin next its the rubbish :/ 2weeks worth of rubbish sitting in the bin. O and if the rubbish ones lid cant shut they refuse to take it, AND charge a fine (still without taking it)

same, old school
can't be bothered recycling. maybe the government can employ people who are on the dole to sit down and go through our waste and seperate it all
as long as they don't look at my thrown away post

I'm not into all this bollocks till they make it compulsory. I was starting to do it here because they gave us the blue bins for plastic and paper but at Christmas but, after my dad had spent 20 mins separating all the rubbish into its right things, the bastards in the bin lorry just put everything in the one lorry.
If the council's not arsed to do it at a time when people have the most waste then I'm not bothering my arse to wash the gravy out the bottom of a plastic packet before binning it.

The bags probably blew away. The retards who empty them just throw them on the drives around here and expect them to stay where they are.

we use the green bin because we have a lot of grass and the normal wheelie bin
blue bag and pink bag get used for scrap copper and the black box has all my tools in it, could do with another black box idealy

This will be great for all the homeless tramps, just walking round the streets fumbling for left overs, you'll get one cheeky sod though who will ring your doorbell to ask to borrow the microwave for an old curry you threw away.
