Just came of a motor way drive and discoverd when I accelerate or rev the car it gives of a high pitch whining noise. Any ideas what it could be? Any help appreciated

ok had a wee look when i got back hume and with teh car ticking over its started to knock, from what i can see it looks like the adjuster bit ware the fan belt goes round. lol

You won't have a fan belt on your car mate, the fan is electrically driven.
It could be the tensioner on your timing belt or auxillary drive belt.
Can you get someone to look at it for you? if it is the timing belt tensioner gone, i.e the bearings gone, it will make wierd noises like you described, but if it fails completely your engine will be fucked.
It could even be the alternator, very hard to tell unless you are stood next to it.
Best advice is to get someone who knows about engines to have a listen for you.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

ok my mate isnt about to look at it

the bit under the wires for the temp sender that the belt is on, that wobles like feck when the engine is running, tried to tighten but wont tighten. what else could be the problem??

well ive got a 1.4 sport comin in the workshop for new wheel bearings and badboy bonnet so ill check his over nd see if i can get any info for ya mate but if u find the problem give us a shout

ok spoted about 5mins ago that the bottome pully is rubbing of the plastic protector thats under it
the engine is mega squint so im guessing one of the mounts are broke or moved? going back out to have a look the now
will this cause the gears to be tighter if the engine is not sitting right??

Errr the bottom pully has problery slipped off its key. Pics help mate, about you saying the engine is on the piss.

ok got it sorted
tightend up the pully and re fitted the missing mount bolts, whining gone and gears are back to normal woo
