i have payment protection on my credit card. it's 79p for every 100 quid i use on it, but why would i need this?
they never explained anything to me, just said it's best to tick it.
can i cancel it at any time?
thanks.

Yeah it is a rip and you you can claim back all the money you have paid them in the last 5 years for it.
Have a look on www.moneysavingexpert.com for tips on how to do it.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

They always get people to sign for it. Even once you've paid the balance off, people still get charged for it (in the case of a yearly charge)

yeah i got charged 79p even though i had never used the card before. it's only an emergency card really, sometimes put the petrol on it and that's it.
will give the bank a call tomorrow and hopefully they won't be arses about cancelling it, cheers.

Nah, they shouldn't be. I think it's often sold on behalf of someone though rather than the creditor themselves.
You get protection on a credit card anyway to an extent
