Have tried using a stereo jack to 2 phono but only get sound from one side, either left or right. Any ideas what could be causing it? The wire works fine with ipod etc as does the hifi

If the wire is fine with other devices then I would suspect the laptop.

Are you sure the balance is central in volume control? Have a look around Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel.

Yeh the balance is set correctly. It does have 2 headphone sockets right next to each other, not sure if thats meant to be a clue. Cant remember if it was fine with actual headphones, will try it 2moz.
