It is pretty much mate  In Core you can literally hit someone in the face from point blank range with an RPG, but if they have Juggernaut on, you die and they keep walking 
On Hardcore though you don't get a map (which is even better) until someone gets UAV. Only bad thing is you can kill your team mates
