I feel you're pain! Had some wannabe banker phone from natwest demanding full payment of my student overdraft (interest free yadda yadda) right there and then. I told him he can't do that and i'll see an advisor or bank manager at my local branch to sort it out to which he responded with "pay me now or i'll put your account into bad credit". He wouldn't give me his name or Id number or anything and i couldn't speak to his supervisor. So i told him to go fuck himself and that i'll talk to someone in my local branch, where it got sort and they removed the bad credit rating.
Eitherway, i paid it off quickly and closed my account there. Bunch of cowboys

I'm sure they are supposed to write to you in the very least to inform you what they are doing?

I was going to say, they aren't meant to take it away without informing you first, e.g. to give you time to arrange alternatives to DD's or standing orders so you don't get charges etc. I don't understand how they have taken £600 off you that they aren't owed

All the people who say you shouldn't be using an overdraft regularly etc should direct that at the banks for offering them imo. I hate banks, they screw you for whatever they can and make life difficult whenever you have a problem that realtes to them doing something for you. They aren't so bothered about charging you wrongly, informing you about stuff that might end up in you getting charged or having no money. Thieving fuckers imo all of them.

Good luck with ombudsman, the FOS is pretty good, I used to deal with complaints for a big insurer and they take stuff alot more seriously when the ombudsman is involved
