There's threads on the GSi bootlid. If you're fitting it to a non GSi then screw the bracket to the bootlid and drill holes for the threads on the spoiler part to go through the boot.

You have got to make holes for the spoiler and bracket if it is a non GSi bootlid.

Better off finding a replica one if its going on a standard boot lid, I sold one recently, they just go on with 6 screws.

I fitted a genuine GSi spoiler to my car, It's easy and much lighter than the Vauxhall non GSi spoiler.

you mean its much lighter then the non oe vauxhall spoiler lol
deffo looks better with the proper vauxhall spoiler fitted, i fitted mibnes buy drilling and rivoting the back plate to the boot then fitting the spoiler on top, i then marked the 4 holes for the outer shell and drilled them and bolted it down, then removed ti to fit the new pipe work for the washer jet and put some double sided tape on it and it looked spot on

No I mean Vauxhall do 2 types of spolier, The 2 piece GSi style but they also do the 1 piece Irmscher spoiler.
I fitted one of the Irmscher 1 piece spoilers to my ex's Corsa, Got a bargain at Vauxhall £30 new.
The 1 piece Irmscher spoiler is much heavier than the GSi spoiler.

whats the deal with the irmscher one anyway? the 2 piece one is oe on specific models so im guessing the irmscher one was an added extra available from vauxhall at the time and not fitted as standard? because ive never seen one fitted on anything other then models that usually didnt have one from the factory

It must be an after market option like you say. The Corsa my ex had didn't come with the spoiler as standard, I just seen it cheap in my local Vauxhall dealer when getting parts and bought it and got a mate to paint and fit it.

Do the genuine GM spoilers sit flush without a backing plate glued to the bootlid?

yeah you could bond one on without the backing plate but the washer jet is clipped onto the black plate but i guess you could just leave the old one on
