have two problems i need help or ideas with really for a start when at high revs say over 5000rpm there is a loud noise like a scraping squeel (metal on metal)

im quite positive its not coming from the engine as its quite strong 2.0 8v allthough the driveshaft seems to be on the way out... it also does this when its out of gear and revved so i assume its not the box could it be driveshaft bearings???

second problem car seems to die and pick up again when you put foot down and the car also picks up better when the pedal is just slightly off full could this be due to the external pump and filter either clogged dirty or generally fucked am sure its not timing or plugs as they were changed not long ago any help will be appreciated cheers
