got a mp4 file on hard drive plays ok but no sound? says codec is aac 264?
why it no worky?

Download gotsent and convert it?
converts .mkv to .avi for use on playstation, might do it with that as well.
h.264 is compressed HD apparently http://www.vcodex.com/h264overview.html

its not a mkv file though but the sound codec is aac264

there is no such thing as aac264, AAC is the audio and x264 is the compression tool to compress h264/avc video. Download media info and it should tell you what audio codec it is though i am assuming it is aac and it will have the audio specs, there maybe something funny with the audio which is non PS3 complient. It may be a simple remux into another container i.e. MKV or the same container again that fixes it. this has worked for me in the past with some MKV files
