'James May On The Moon' was the programme on sunday, can catch it on iPlayer.
Seems pretty breath taking though, would love to grab a flight in a Mig-25 or Mig-31 Foxhound, just a shame it's about £15,000

may allways comes across with a geniune intrest and a love for the subject though, and even though he is a tv present it seems to be about more than that
and of only it was a sr-71

They don't fly the sr-71 anymore.
I remember when I was in the Gulf and we were sharing a dispersal with a U-2 squadron. They had an Impreza chase car that sped down the runway after it to put the stabilisers on it while 2 bloke sat in the boot.
I also remember a story, how true it is i don't know, of a picture from a U-2 looking down on one of our Canberras and the yanks were gloating, till we shown them a picture from another Canberra looking down at the U-2 that was taking pictures of our Canberra. Aparantly, they go just as high, but the pilot doesn't wear the space suit.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

The Canberra can fly at a higher altitude than any other bomber right through the 1950s and set a world altitude record of 70,310ft (21,430m) in 1957.

But unlike the Yanks we would rather ground all our aircraft of that era and mothball them and sell them for scrap.

mite be slightly off topic, watched the programme, thought it was good, went to florida last year and visited kennedy space centre, really good, especially watching the space shuttle getting towed back into the hangar, and who else believes that the stig is schumacher??

the Canberra was still flying right up to 2007 the longest serving RAF aircraft.
if the aircraft of the same era were still flying we would have the Lightening as the UKs first line of defence and Hunters as our bombers!
