getting a corsa b sri engine off someone this week what can i look for to make sure it isnt knackerd?

without sounding a bellend...you'd basically need to whip the head off to check the wear in the bores. and sump off to check the big ends and mains to see if in good condition.
but would of been even better if heard it in the car, as somehow i doubt they would let you take the head off or sump without you handing money over

test the pressure in the cylinders, check dipstick for mayo and oil cap. its always going to be hard to tell how its been driven, check service history too

If it's still in the car you want to go and see it running, preferably from cold.
If it's already out, ask him to give you a weeks warranty in writing maybe?
