Be prepared for it to be in for a while, generally bodyshops are really bad at giving estimates on time scales.

The mk1 went in last week, full respray in original Mars Red with a low bake oven. Wiper holes, Washer jets and badges smoothed.

£700 Which i thought was really good.

Well I am having full respray in Ferrari Rosso Red with flushed tailgate, GSi bumper, spolier and skirts fitted, with some little dents takin out and I've had quotes varying from £800 to £2500 and to be honest the difference in quality is barely £200 never mind £1700!

One thing to remember on somethin like spraying a cheap job is not always good, u gotta think about the quality of the job, a bad spray job will stick out like a sore thumb, and u'll end up paying more to sort it in the long run anyway!
