I know this is a silly question. but is there something similar to * Auto Cad * that i can use to draw a house?

For the last week i have been having dreams about getting a new house but haveing the pleasure of building it to the spec I want.

Is there a programme out there that i can use for each floor and exterior, using dimensions or with flexible lines, or dotted lines...

You get the Idea.. + Please dont tell me Im stupid for not getting Auto Cad or Photoshop lol

Sketch-up is free from Google, but I find a bit trickier to set out a floor plan.

AutoCAD is much better for the 2d stuff IMO.

Cosmo used Sketch Up for the plans for his latest shop IIRC. He might be the best person to ask about that program?

That I did.

Id never really used a program like it before but I soon got the hang of it.

I didnt, but you can download extra packs for it of standard items (much like you'd see an architect use) which will help you with placing things around your design.

Here is what I did with it...

Ive also used it to do a house that we have bought to develop (Ive taken the architects plans of the current house plus extension and put it in Sketch Up).

You'll get the hang of it soon enough.

Use the tutorial thats in with it to learn the basics then just practice.
