For any mechanics out there, have you ever had a CV joint go after a few months of it being fitted?

Thought so, guy obviously just doesn't want to do it. When I went back a few months ago when the hub nut had loosened, I said it might be a faulty part and he said "Ive been a mechanic for 20years and never had a faulty part"

My mate did mine for me. As well as fitting my new brakes. He only went college for 3 years and I bet he does a better job than most of those places. Doesn't matter how many years you've been doing it, if you've been doing it wrong the whole time?

might be that they forgot to put the c clip on the shaft and that would make it go pop

how would you know if your CV joint had gone? i'v currently got a problem with one the passenger side wheel. Seems to pick up alot more bumps and makes a louder sound than the other? had a mechanic look at it and he said theres no movement but theres stilll this sound coming from one side. Its a vw golf mk4.
sorry to change the topic.

Mines clicking mainly atm, some 'knocking' when pulling off too. Not had much luck with this joint, came loose after about 2/3 days, then about 2/3months later then a few days after that, then been making a noise for a while but been blaming other parts till I heard it clicking the other day
Stuey- if it sounds like extra road noise it could be the wheel bearing
