looking at some mahle pistions for a c20xe
are these any good or are they just standard?

they are just the original xe pistons

early xe pistons were forged later were cast. are you building it stock or to take cams, etc?
i think if look under the piston by the gudgeon pin, there are some casting numbers. if have 86p im pretty sure there the forged mahles.

yea i've been offered a set and they have 86P31W2 empossed underneath. They would be to replace the pistons in a coilpack C20XE which i presume would have non forged.
So are these a good buy for £25?

yeah but only problem now is most blocks need an overbore. but £25 is about the going rate tbh

you need oversized pistons and think cheapest i get them for is about £200 a set + the machining £80.
have you got the block apart or still in car?

picking the whole c20xe up on tuesday. it's a late type coilpack with 80K on it

you'll have to take head off then to see what the bores are like

the forged ones are actually stampled Mahle underneath...the cast ones arent.
