Avast - quicker and less resource hungry than AVG. Plus it rates a lot higher in the yearly AV tests than AVG.

I've just gone on to Avast at home from Norton. Cant believe how much faster my laptop is now

AVG has gone completely downhill since they made version 8.
You are much better off with Avast, lots of malware removal experts are using it instead of AVG now.
