Gen me up. It seems my account was removed off astra-sport when they upgraded and tbh i can't be assed to sign up for 1 question.

Astra Mk5, 3 door, SRi CDTi, 1.9 150bhp engine.

Missis little bro is looking at one as he does a lot of miles. Its over-priced, and the dealer bloke got complelty owned by Donna, as she knew lots, and he knew nothing, so he got ratty Lamo..

Anyway, im after all information about them, recalls, faults, known issues with the 1.9 engine. can anyone gen me up as I can't find too much about any recalls or faults.

I'll have a nosey through AS, but if anyone knows anything as I know theres a few astra mk5 owners on here.....

Once its bought, i'll get him to have it remapped too , something Donna won't let me do on the Astra So will have to tune/modify his when he gets one using his money, brucey bonus.

Also, mk5 owners, can I ask how many miles you had and how much you paid when you got it (and year, we're looking at 07/57 plates for around £9-£10k???)

The 3 door seem to be 1500-2000 more than the 5 door.

5 doors go for around 10,000-10,500 for an 07 with 10,000 or less miles.

You wont get a low miler for less than 11,500-12000 in a 3 door 07 reg...

20k miles, lots are for sale around £9k-£10.5k.

Online guides value them with that milage at around £9000 trade, even less private.

Its more technical stuff, any recalls (so if they've not been done we can knock them down further). Any know problems with them.

tbh, our Mk5 astra has been spot on, hasn't missed a beat in 3+ years, but obviously the dervs a different ball game.

Are they with the Exterior Pack? The prices I listed included the XP.

I got my 06 plate 3dr for just under £6.5k but had pretty high mileage. That was from a main dealer and luckily it came with a warrenty as 2 months down the line it needed over a grands worth of work doing to it!

Things to check are the swirl flaps on the inlet manifold, when these fail it will smoke a fair bit. For Vauxhall to do the work it costs around £800. This is what broke on mine and they done it under warrenty. Even low milers have been known to have these fail.

Also the EGR valve gets clogged up and can stop working. Regals remap can bypass the EGR so you dont have to worry about it failing.

Astraownersnetwork has a lot of information on there, thats where i looked when i bought mine.

Mine is a 57 plate 150 with the exterior pack and 7k miles and was £10500..

I personally wouldn't have a non xp one for looks and re-sale.

As for recalls it wont save you any money as recalls are done for free at vauxhall.

Common things are sticky clutches causing notchy gear change but overall theres not many common faults apart from egr valves but again warranty takes care of them.

£200 on a DTUK box and you have 200bhp, mine feels brilliant with the box on.

No, its more time out of my day which can be used to bring the price down.

Jay, any visual checks your can do on the engine to check thes issues? As I can't start taking the IM apart on the forecourt

Yes there are visual checks but i cant remember if the engine cover needs to come off to see down the back of the engine. There is a long bar running along the inlet manifold which should move side to side when you press the accelerator.

This link is all about the swirl/tumble flaps

http://www.ms-motor-service.com/ximages/pg_si_0093_en_web.pdf

Also, if you hold down the brake and accelerator pedal and then turn the ignition on, this will bring up fault codes on the mileage sreenn. If nothing happens then there is no faults stored in the ecu. If there are then it will bring up something like

ECN
p001000 for example.

Then there is a massive list of every fault code on astraownersnetwork. So if you see one go home and check out what it is.

I wouldn't mind another 150 CDTI. Would 100% have to be an XP version though and 3dr (I have had the 5 dr version already).

Yeah but 1 service in 3 years is not good.
Have to check whether it invalidates warrentee as it hasn't been maintained.

No warrentee, not interested.

No worries Daimo.

I'd never buy one without some sort of warrenty, too much expensive things to go wrong.

Just after my warrenty ran out, my alternator packed up, local garages were after £500+ and most motor factors wanted £280+ just for the unit. Luckily i found a cheap place online. Was a pain in the arse to change over though

Mates got a 56 plate one. Black, 3 door with X-pac, with 26k on the clocks. But its only the 120 version. Cost £9500 if this helps, about 3 weeks ago

120's aren't anywhere near as desireable, can get a 150 for that price.

no recalls

just mainly have faults with

EGR valves - lack power/smoke
Swirl flaps - rods come unattacted, might put light on, never did on my dads though
Dual mass flywheels - rattle when lightly press clutch/ turn engine off, makes it sound like big ends
