Recently purchased a PS3; with which i had the intention of playing online like you do.
Internet Provider : Orange Broadband but not wireless. We have a wire going from the telephone port into a router then from the router into the computer modem in which we get internet.
Now im confused how to set up the PS3 online?... at first i presumed the router to modem wire would work but this is a USB connecter which wont do.
Ive just purchased a Network Gaming Cable from Game and have no idea how to get it working.
The router which we have; only has one port and the gaming cable wont connect into it.
And now ive tryed connecting up the internet using router as normal and then connecting the gaming wire from the modem into the PS3 thinking ild get a secondary connection but the system aint recongisng it.
I suppose 1 answer is yes go wireless but i presumed you didnt have too.
Please help a novice. cheers

go wireless, if you go wired then surely you need an ethernet cable?

The ps3 connects via rj45 cable, if your router doesn't have this connection there i'm sure there is no other way to connect it via wired connection
You can get a RJ45 to Usb cable.

I found the wireless was not very reliable on ps3.
