My mate hated Australia. Said it was expensive and full of wankers.
I had one that went and loved it and is now moved on to Japan and I know of a couple of others that lasted a month and hated it. I think it depends where you are in Oz etc...
Yeah and it also depends on your attitude and personality as well, if it doesnt match the Ozzie lifestyle then you ain't gonna like the place or wish to get on there.

Well they loved Thailand and Vietnam, but hated Australia. Not sure if that adds up?

I wasn't implying that you specifically have to go to Australia to do that, I just meant time away from your normal life, time to step back.

Im just saying that a 2 weeks holiday is what id consider my step-back time. I wouldnt fancy doing it for a year, particularly if im going to have to work like a motherfucker in some daft job to enable me to do it.
Think my mates ended up working down mines when in Aus.

On the other hand, I didnt work my arse off really before I went, just saved steadily in a job that doesnt pay brilliantly then booked and went off and didnt work for one single hour while I was out there and it was great. Its just the flipside of the coin, if you plan it before and save what you can there's no need to work, just do what you want to do when you do it. There's no way I could have done even 1/4 of the things I did when I was there in just a 3 week break without rushing through every hour of every day to fit it all in and I was only there for 6 months.
