Want a top end recommendation really have done a quick search and come up with Evil from the Needle...Frith Street and Family Business tattoo.

If they are going to be the top guys, then you've no chance of getting anything for this weekend.
I know the top guy up this way (tbh he is probably one of the best in the country) has at least a 12month waiting list, was 18 last time I rang).

Well sorry by large reputation I do not mean the likes of Louis Malloy etc....But just a good quality. Ideally just looking this weekend to pop in and get a design idea and time to do and price.
Definately do not want a out of a book tattoo

I still stand by what I said, even if you're not going for one of the top guys, a decent place will have a good few weeks of solid bookings from today.

Pretty much true. I would of thought the seriously top people would months to book.

The top people do, as I said its 18months to get the guy round here (and his name was mentioned, Louis Malloy).

There's one next to the pizza shop near my flat in Brum. The pictures in the window look really good.
Conveniently it's right where the marker is on this map:

Are all the 'ink' places the same company or just individual businesses. I.E. LA, Miami, London etc

Separate, and granted all the shops are real, but the guys you see on the tv dont work in there 24/7.
You go to Miami and you wont be Ami or the others, you go in London Ink and you wont meet any of those guys!

I do not just live in a dream world as your quote suggests - I understand that with better quality tattoo businesses you cannot just turn up and get ink'd.
I will not physically wander into the salon and just start asking questions.....But thanks.
For what it is worth I am not impressed with a over comercialized place such as London Ink - As I sure like Miami Ink you will only be seen once you have been passed the powers that be. I just want a good quality tattooist that can draw a design to spec.....and impliment this onto my arm
Help much appreciated

Eh?
I think you've misunderstood.
Neither Miami or London Ink exist. They are both made up shops that, for a few weeks out of the year, allow 4 or 5 of the top tattoo artists to work from the premises and be on TV. So the place is not 'over commercialised' as it does not even exist as you see it on TV.
And you're saying you wont 'physically wander into the salon', but what Im saying is any decent place anywhere in the country will not have a free appointment within the next 4-6wks, if not longer. So certainly not this weekend.

If your in London and desperate for a tattoo theres a good one in maidstone, kent where i got mine done, its called skin illustrations its really good, and hightly reccommened by other tattooists in maidstone and around that area, but again i know theres quite along wait, another couple around there would be figjam in ashford, and inkfish in maidstone which on a lucky day you can just walk into , these are the places ive travelled to get tattoos, and i dont even live near maidstone

Magnum Opus in Brighton is really good. Worth travelling if your wanting a good piece - as Cosmo says, waiting times are long for a decent artist.

Spear studio in Kings heath birmingham, possibly one of the finest tattoists whose work i've seen and had ink me. Award winning and highly commended.

Here's mine from the one I recommended:
This was hours after it was done so its more muted now, the tones are perfect.
