Ok so me and my gf were away at my aunts wedding at the weekend and the screen on the camera I bought her last year died (still takes pics tho) cost about £100 but was just a kodak 8mp easyshare thing
Anyone know of any decent but cheapish (I know there not cheap) deals on anywhere?
also whats the difference between bridge camera's and SLR's?

Ripped straight from wiki
Bridge cameras are cameras which fill the niche between the single-lens reflex cameras (SLRs) and the Point-and-shoot camera.[1][2] They are often comparable in size and weight to the smallest DSLRs, but lack the SLR optical viewfinder system. In addition, SLRs normally feature interchangeable lenses, while current bridge cameras do not
The single-lens reflex (SLR) camera uses an semi-automatic moving mirror system which permits the photographer to sometimes see exactly what will be captured by the film or digital imaging system, as opposed to pre-SLR cameras where the view through the viewfinder could be significantly different from what was captured on film.
But i think you mean dslr. A digital single-lens reflex camera (digital SLR or DSLR) is a digital camera that uses a mechanical mirror system and pentaprism to direct light from the lens to an optical viewfinder on the back of the camera.
In simple terms though, a bridge is a in between camera, has similar functionality to a dslr and brilliant for beginners.
An SLR uses film

Oh and to answer your question, FUJI S2000HD is a great bridge, has some decent usability and still takes great pictures on auto.
Something like a Sony A200/A300 is a good starter DSLR as well as the Nikon D60/Canon EOS 1000D etc.

What did you get ? And by accesories you dont mean lenses do you
Lenses are expensive, and things like battery grips, tripods etc are almost a neccessity. If you got a dslr make sure you get a protective filter to (uv) to keep dust off the lense.
Soon you'll be looking at remotes/off body flashes etc

Jessops...about £6 iirc.
Good investment is the Tamron 70 - 300 (around £170) and the Sigma 12 - 24 (cant remember the price) and you have a pretty good basic pack
Make sure your shooting in RAW

not until your confident with all camera settings. Processing a RAW image isn't as easy as people make out.

With the sony a series you can shoot in both Raw and JPG on the same card (each image is saved twice).
You learn by giving it a try
