After returning from reading almost dead and stinking of ****(literally) I get message of my dad whos been trying to get car fixed from this garage which it has now been at for 2 weeks.
Been told i should try a carboretter(sp) instead of the injection fuelling the 1.6 usually uses? Sounds like **** too me, does anyone have an idea to why my car may be overfuelling?

(Hope this makes sense im knackered)

Just spoke to them, and now saying its my ECU even though car was working previous to engine change

Could be a temp sensor, maf sensor or lamda failure causing it. does the fault light come on? if so get the codes read to find out what the ecu thinks is causing the problem.

Swapping to carb will be far more work than changing a sensor or the ECU.

So the garage are suggesting you fit carbs just because it's over fuelling?

and just to re-iterate what you were told last week.

THE GARAGE IS USELESS!!!! TAKE IT ELSEWHERE!

The are telling you to stick a carb on a x/c16xe for gods sake! Have they done a diagnostic check? Do that and hey presto, you'll more than likely have an idea if any sensors are fucked.

They tried to tell you a fuel rail was causing it Its a bloody pipe!

Then it was the mysterious black box

No you have to convert it to carbs.

my god.

for reference.....

I would do the following, in the following order.....

Diagnostic / paperclip check -

'IF' no errors shown....

Try an known working ECU....

still not working? change (and test at each stage)

Coolant temp sensor
Throttle position sensor
MAP Sensor
Lamba sensor
Intake air temp sensor
Idle control valve - give a good clean with carbcleaner (should be done as service item really)
Spark plugs.

ECU should be fine though, as car was driveable previous to engine change

With your thinking nothing would ever fail.

Things do break... and things are worth trying no matter how trivial.
