Chris F, Mike B`s brother and I have recieved £50 parking tickets from the service station the travel lodge which we stayed in for castle combe is in,
we booked a room for the night and didnt see the signs saying you can only stay for 2 hours, the sense in that I still cant see
you book a room for the night, in a services, on a motorway and you are only allowed to leave your car there for 2 hours
do we pay it or not, they arnt police or council ones they are issued by MOTO services them self
I remember reading that the only ones you should deffo pay are council or police ones?

Unless it's a council one don't pay it.
Either ignore it or send a letter in saying you don't know who was driving.
Only send the letter if you are sure there isn't cctv because that could backfire.
They will send threatning letters but they are a bunch of complete con artists.

Your lucky with only a £50 fine
I had edinburgh city council at the door yesterday for 7 unpaid parking tickets totalling £630
This year i think it totals sumthing like £2500+
Just as well they are tax deductable

Have a look on the travelodge website about parking, there might be something on there saying you need to prove you were staying there or something.
Obviously follow Johns method first, but if you want to make sure you could get away with it should it get taken further, then it'd be good to know you were in the right

I missed the bit about you were staying in the car park
If you were entitled to stay there obviously go down that route first, saves a bit of worrying, otherwise follow the above.

Ignore it and see what happens. I've been pulled up for about 30% of mine in the last 2 years

As I said mate, from what I've read they could only take you to court for the £8 for 24 hours parking.
They just try to scare people into paying with solicitors letters etc. obviously a lot will pay without a moments thought cos they if they pay within 2 weeks it won't cost them as much, not realising that if they don't pay, it won't cost them anything.

It's actually the stupid bint receptionists fault for not telling me why I was giving my registration number
I've checked and it does mention it on the Travelodge website but I booked it in June so I was never gonna remember that, stupid bint on reception should've told me why she needed my registration

From what I've heard they have an appeals procedure but you'll never win.
Best policy is ignore it till they get bored and realise we aren't mugs

I'd be telelphoning the company that issues the tickets and tell them I was staying at the travel lodge and would they prefer if I left my car on the hard shoulder of the M4 for 12 hours?
Don't pay it what ever you do
