Does anybody know what the "J" shaped piece is for which comes off the inlet pipes??

The pipe on the left is from a 1.4 Sport (pre-facelift), and the one on the right is from a 1.6 sport (facelift)

I want to fit the one without the "J" piece on my 1.6 Sport, this should be fine should'nt it???

I don,t think the j bit does anything had to saw mine to bits to get the dam thing out when I fitted power box, fit anyone you want but will be easyer without the j bend. in fact why are you bothering with all that when you could fit a power box and lose all that rubbish and crap inlet manifold top.
