How many times has this been covered!!
Just a few things u can do:
*stick to 15" rims
*Strip out back + little/no ICE
*Drill airbox + fit K+N panel, and supply air with a nice 4" dia pipe from front bumper
*Regularly service the car and keep what you do have in as good a condition as possible
*Full zaust with de-cat (if funds allow)
*Save up for 1.6 16v or XE + it's insurance
Dont:
*Fit 17"s
*Make a massive boot build
*Fit an induction kit
*Fit a massive bodykit
....as it will just slow you down.
If like me you can afford engine transplant, NOS or turbo, then rather tha tryin to improve performance, go for breaking + handling instead.
The amount of cars i have wasted round roundabouts, corners etc is endless. They mite have twice or 3 times the power, but on standard 14" alloys and not lowered, they got no chance ! Improvin the handling also makes drivin the old 1.2 alot more fun!

btw...to help u, do drill dont fit induction kit. i drilled my airbox, and whoa! it is so much better than the bfo cone i used to have, plus u get a nice noise from ur bay and zorrst

it slows ur speedo down.ul b goin 60 on ur speedo n the cars actually doin 67 odds.braking is longer.handling is heavier but its worth it

It'll also take a little longer to get going as its turning larger wheels with a longer radius with more weight at the end of that radius too.

I didnt know that people actually knew how to make 1.2's faster coz all you heard was "drive it of a cliff!".......its funny the first time but when you hear it all the time is really does bore the piss out of you

was on the motorway the other day in me 1.2 8v had 2 people in the car, was goin about 80, then came to a hill speed dropped to 58 (had a bit of stuff in the boot) coach full of old people overtook me. I've got 16's , has its advantages downhilllike

i have a 1.2 8 valve with 17's looks stunning.
acceleration wise, is not to bad between 0-about 40
on a slip road joining a motorway, u really notice how slow the acceleration is, expecially between 55 and about 80mph.
this one time i hit a hill on the motorway, and i had to pull into the slow lanes behind the lorrys as i didnt have the power to go much faster lol.
but def worth the looks

17's killed my acceleration, esspecially in 5th gear. turned the turbo boost up to compensate

I have a 1.2 8v, K&N, Stainless CAt back system, lowered 60mm on 15"s. It aint that quick no, but round town it nails nearly every other car due to its really low precise handling and my late braking.
