How do I remove this? Its a nightmare.

Pull the middle two vents fully down, then force them and they should come down another two inches, inside is two screws, undo them (dont drop the screws!) hey presto lift it up. then when bolts are done up just force the blower vents back up into position.

be careful removing the wire from the back. Its fragile and is often the cause of flickering displys and losing settings

Take it off as discribed above check the wires on the back and give them a wiggle. Probably that. If not bulbs as said

on mine i had dry solder joints on the back of the plug.
