Friend is doing a sponsored bike ride from Rome to scotland with a few Celebraties etc for comic relief.


Needs to raise £5000

Anyone got any ideas of things to do that can help raise money?


Best I have come up with is a raffle etc at the local pub

sponsor sheet and go around doors? a good few people will probably chip in some cash.

Surely the idea of doing a sponsored bike ride is that people sponsor him for doing the bike ride, and thats how he'll raise the money?

Well that or more. As thats the minimum target they set to make it worth their while.


I think he has done a fair share of door knocking

Get a dontation website set up then ring round local papers trying to get one to put a story about it in with a link to the site

Yer thats the idea. But I was trying to think of more ways to get people involved rather then just writing names on sheets

If its a big-ish event see if the local paper would run a story for him? Set up one of those 'just-giving' websites so people can donate online.

You never know, a company might spot the story and bung a decent amount of cash his way.

yer its going in the local rag on friday.


Few companies have got back and given him a few free products to use on the ride and some to auction/raffle to help raise money. But none have given money a such
