im thinking about swapping my saxo vts for a 1.6 sport as ive been offered a swap so have a couple of completely unrelated q's. thought it best to stick to one thread
its got fk coilovers, will it handle almost as well as my saxo or will it still be noticeably worse?
also, whats mpg like? what do most of you get from a tenner on average?

VTS would probably handle better even on standard suspension.

as long as its not miles worse im not too bothered. only option to keep the handling would be to get a vtr, but this started out as a vtr so would feel a waste to trade back down.
always wanted another corsa, and want to build an XE/LET at some point in the future, but no point getting this if its going to cost the same in fuel as the vts

they handle well for a car that isnt going to hammered round every where at speeds that will kill you if you make a mistake.. so they are good cars..
and the only reason a saxo or pug handles so well is because they are made out of tin cans so there is no body role on the buggers oh and there rear suspension set up is pritty good from factory)
i'd say on fuel it wont domuch less than my 14xe so 300+ miles per tank so not to bad

whats the tank size? i get around 60 miles to a tenner, if that from the vts.
i dont wanna hammer the shit out of it but want something thats still fun to drive

if you do swop and go for a redtop you will find its better on fuel then the 1.6 when you drive carefully
edit- the 1.6 corsa will be alot better on fuel then a vts

and handeling wise, i had a XE'd GSi and it was down 60mm on gaz kit, and handled like it was on rails... handled well for something that wasnt driven soely for track use..
and a xe is juicy on fuel but if driven carefully its as good as the 1.6

My XE Corsa when driven normally was better than the 1.4 8v that it replaced. They are good on fuel when driven normally as they dont need high revs to pull the car.5th gear cruising with a blip to the throttle will happily pull the car with ease.

im very tempted, think if i got it i'd attack it with poly bushes, strut braces, arb's and decent tyres to try and stiffen it up.
its balack and got got irmscher splitter and skirts on it which i like the look of, i think i'd add black speedlines and leave it at that

If you are after something cheaper to run then you would be better with a 1.2 or even better, a diesel.

might have to go for the corsa, so many tuning parts available cheap! calibra leather goes cheap too, would be £300+ for leather interior for mine
