My car's going into the garage (Pinnacle Vauxhall, Luton) next Friday to have some warranty work done, and they're giving me a Courtesy car for the day (1.2 SXI), the only problem is, they say its down to me to sort out insurance cover, but my insurance company should do this free of charge for a day. Later on i was thinking about this, isn't it down to the garage to sort out insurance, when i've had courtesey cars in the past, its insured already and i've had to pay nothing!!!
Any1 else had this, any1 know why?

How old r u Carlos ?
U need to be between 21 and 80 or sumthin like that to go under Vauxhall's insurance.
IVe got to sort it out next week for my insurance too, quite easy though isn't it, just get the insurance company to fax the cover note to vauxhall themselves

when my dad took his company car in to have work done, vauxhall just gave him a cover note covering anyone with the same surname

We had similar thing, not with vaux though. Had waranty work done on our 306, was in the garage for 8weeks!
Gave us 3 different courtesy cars a grappy 106 diesel, skoda felica and eventually we got a 406. In all fairness the skoda looked shite but drove really well, cruised at 95 on motorway, made me laugh over takin people in it, quick accelleration too.
Anyway garage insurance covered us not our own. Most garage policies should do.

Ok, my car went in yesterday to get my car sorted and I think i'm gonna look for more things wrong with it cos the women on the service desk is fit!!! Anyway, they replaced the door seal and sorted my central locking, tech2 said theres an intermittant open relay (whatever that means) and so they replaced it and also gave me a new key just to be on the safe side, and this was all done in a couple of hours!! I was expecting them to have the car for ages, but the courtesy car was a 1.2 SXI, not bad but I'm so glad I decided to get my SRI as opposed to that, cos I kept nearly getting hit on roundabouts cos I'm use to just bringing the clutch up and being off, unfortunatley the SXI (obviously) isn't as quick!!!!
Anyways it has sort of restored my faith in Vauxhall garages 1) the fit bird and 2) they actually fixed it the same day!

Depends on age, car etc.
I've had various courtesy cars/vans etc. always on the dealer's insurance.
When I got a VX220 as courtesy car they wouldn't insure it though.
