Leave the poor guy alone.. It's his place. I mean im clean especially in the kitchen, but judging people like this is just wrong.
I would like to see you lot go to your families house and just blurt out that their kitchen is a mess, needs dusting, and food or whatever it is to be taken off the tiles.
And to then say to them that you wont be eating there as for the state of the place.

Just would not happen.
