Right - I've not really had a Project Thread, so here goes....

After some advice on here to scrap my SXi Shell and start again, I decided not to do the XE Conversion, Which left me stripping the shell, and it being scrapped.

I've since Changed my mind again... bought another shell... It seems straight enough, and relatively tidy, and for a good price - 50, though i've not bothered with an HPi as of yet.

Anyway, here she is.

1999 'S' 1.2 16v GLS.
Arden Blue
69k on the Clock
EPS
Leccy Windows
Usual Spec
Part Service History and ALL old MOT's
Clifford Alarm with Glass sensor and some other random sensor thing...

Its already had a strengthening kit welded into the front, so thats another Job done.

The engine has already been removed, and there was a LET ECU in the Glovebox too, which i sold straight on for 80 - Bonus

There's a couple of scratches, but no real issues - No dents etc, and it needs 2 new Wing mirrors...

Anyway.. I paid 50 for it, and 15 in Diesel in my mates pickup to collect!

Well.. I got the car back, and left her for a month to get some cash up.

I've since done a lot.

I don't have many pictures during the work - I never really thought about it...

I got hold of a Dizzy Type engine, was an early Birthday present from my girlfriend

I got the Engine, Box, AFM, All sensors, Dizzy, Uprated Leads, Large Rad and Fan, All Ancillaries and a few extra bits here and there for 300..

Then I transported the car home and set at it...

The next update sits at this:

XE is now in, and Starts.
Just got some 15" Steelies (Not in pics) with 4 new Firestones for a tenner...
Need an Ecotec adapter, Coming soon..
Need a couple of hoses
Need some mirrors, but coming along..

Got a Digital Dash to fit
Disc brake rear axle to fit.
De-Badged grille fitted...

Started stripping bits of loom out, Lightweight and all..

I want to remain relatively comfortable in the front, so i've fitted a black carpet, but trimmed it down so there's none in the back...

Removed all rear seatbelts and seat brackets, rear wiper, the usual bits really..

Just fitted some Spax or Gmax (Forget which) Gas adjustable rear shocks and some 30mm Springs - Looks much lower though which i like...

Here's some piccies!

And again, After this the car stayed as it was for a couple of weeks...

Up until this week really.

The Dizzy locating pin was broken, so i sourced a new part and got that fixed.

I've been ordering bits again, and have a whole load of stuff done...

Stripped some more rear Loom out

Bought 2 New mirrors
Ecotec Adapter
Chrome Spark Plug Cover
Remaining Hoses I needed all here.

Painted the Rocker Cover Black - Cocked it up so leaving it till i can get it powdercoated now
Fitted the Rad Hoses
Totally removed and scrapped the Old Axle
Fitted the 15" Steelies on
Took more bits of Interior Trim out
Fitted the Ecotec Adapter and Rocker Cover
Jump Started the car and got her idling correctly

I Need a few more bits, But i'm picking some more up this saturday too, as follows:

Smoked Depos
Heat Wrapped 4 Branch Manifold and Full XE Exhaust with Oval Tailpipe
Better condition Rad and Fan
Rear Strut Brace

And over the next few Days I'm expecting a modified Gear linkage and a pair of Arden Blue electric Mirrors.

Which leaves a basic list of stuff required to get her roadworthy...

Coolant
Brake Fluid
Rear Brake Hoses
Bleed Nipples for Rear Disc Calipers
Handbrake Cable for rear Disc Conversion

Obviously that won't be her finished, But will be useable, and i can do more bits as and when, I'm also looking at lightweightening the doors slightly and removing all door cards etc...

Sunday I'm hoping to fit the Depos, Gear Linkage, Rear Axle, Exhaust and Radiator and Fan, Stick some coolant in her...

I'll get some more pictures then, But all in all - Coming along...

Also ordered a cheap GSi Kit - It needs some work and won't be fitted for a good while, BUT, will look good when it is - Plan to have a small front plate fitted with it too

Comments please

Tbh mate, I had it looking really good - Left it over night and still looked good...

Decided to add another coat, and it looked really good - Next morning, it was all rippled and fucked...

Worst job I've ever done tbh! lol

Seems to be coming along very nicely mate, I'm sure you'll be having a lot of fun with this in the future. You certainly seem to know what you're doing, as half the stuff mentioned in your posts above is like a totally different language to me! Always amazes me how much better a car looks with a nice new set of depo's fitted as well...

Nice project you got going mate, I'll be keeping tabs

Did you prep the surface first and use panel wipe to clean before spraying the primer?

Well, I got the rest of my GSi Kit, no pictures as of yet...

I've had to put a claim into DHL, as bits are damaged in the post and missing, I'm not impressed.

So i've got Half a GSi Kit, with a broken L piece, which i wasn't told about on purchase.

2 Brackets are broken off and totally gone from the GSi Bumper, the Fog lights aren't there - i Don't even know that they were even packed in the first place..

No jacking point covers / Grille (which i knew anyway!).. All in all, pretty disappointed, Not sure where to go now!

Not done anything on the car today, But i'm heading to the scrappy today so hope to get some new rear Calipers or Bleed nipples at least, and go from there

Well, scrapped that plan, got rid of the GSi kit and concentrated on other stuff for a bit..

I've got loads ready to fit, loads to do, before she's even driveable...

Bits I need to do before driveable:

Fit new Rear Caliper
New Rear brake pipe as thread is broken
Fit Handbrake Cable
Fit Gearbox Spacers and Linkage
New Gasket on the Gearbox as leaking
Bleed Brakes
Finish Connecting Coolant pipes and Fill System
Fit Cooling Fan / Buy Slimline Fan

Those are Necessary bits above...

I've also got some good bits to fit..

Oil Cooler Kit
Sender for oil pressure Guage
Oil Pressure and Volt Guages from Calibra
Digital Dash / Transducer and everything
Steering wheel with Snap off Kit
Fibreglass Bad boy extended bonnet
GAZ Coilovers (Currently due to be serviced so not fitted yet!)
De-Locked Handles

There's probably more..

Ripped the Irmscher Spoiler off, hoping to replace with a Black GSi Spoiler at some point..

Yet to take the Tar / Grip stuff off the floor inside, there's no carpet and sponge crap already.

Need to remove a snapped bolt that holds the Cam Cover on, was snapped when i got the engine, and I have a new cover to fit..

Want a few more bits yet, like Carbon Doorcards so i can cut some bits away.. but yeah, here's the pics - Less of a sorry state, but still not awesome!

Well..

Small update!

Had the GAZ's sent away and Repaired - Total of £69 so was happy with that..

Sold the Arden Blue Bonnet and Replaced with a Fibreglass one - It's probably going to be sprayed Black.

Sold the Irmscher Spoiler to Dazmoore

Bought a Semi Smooth Tailgate with a Limo Black Window

Bought a Black GSi Spoiler

Sold my Speedo

Still waiting on some bits in the post, ie Oil Cooler Kit, Tigra Scuttle, and Wires for My Digital Dash

All in all its coming along - One coilover is fitted, I need a new rear brake Pipe as the threads gone on one, Connect a rear Hose to it and Fit a new rear caliper and it'll be towable / Brakeable again..

Then i've to fit the Gearbox spacers, Line the Linkage up, Tidy the wiring under the bay up, check all pipe connections and fill with water, Bleed the brakes and fit the Handbrake cable - Then she'll be driveable.

There's a lot to do, Time is the big issue as well as weather and location!

Any Opinions / Suggestions welcome though!
