at the moment I have the standard 18-70 that came with my camera and it doesnt focus on anything closer than a meter or so and the zoom isnt very powerful
my question is whats the best all rounder? or would I be better going for the likes of a macro and a big zoom? whats the best wide lens?
any help would be appreciated

sony a200 and wouldnt really wana spend more than £100

Doesnt the sony come with the sigma 17-70 lens or am i just making that up?
Personally atm thats my favorite general lens and the minimum focus distance is 20cm so can get really close. Its about 250 from warehouse express.
As for wide angle 10-20 or 12-24 is what most people seem to have.
And for zoom anything upto 200/300 is the norm imo depends how far away from things you intend to be obviously.
Edit: for £100 your not really going to get much unless you get very lucky on second hand stuff imo

nah 10-20 is a proper wide angle one, the best macro one out of that lot would be the sigma 17-70 tbh its what i have.

Really wana be able to do close shots tho

Only online place i have bought a lens from is warehouse express which was excellent service 
as for camera i have the canon 1000d (would love to upgrade it though next year sometime)
