Well I just drove to bham from mine and about 3/4 of the way there I could tell there was something wrong with th brakes..
The pedal seemed to be going further to the floor than usual, as I was on a straight road I didnt brake that many times just incase they stoped working all together as I thought it would be better to get to where I am now and worst case ring AA tmz
When I did use them it was like some times the pedal would feel ok and kinda normal and then other times you would need to press it down further, it was quite sary.
Another thing is as I as driving quite slow I could hear a slight faint sound from the passenger side, a sort of tapping cliking so i thought mabi the brake line had come off tht side and was hitting against the wheel...but i checked when i was parked up and there was nothing (the sound deffo wasnt there before this happend)
any ideas???
Im gnna try and get it home tmz driving slow and at least then itl be on my drive.

what does that man mate can you elaborate...front or rear? any way of checking so i know for deffinite?
Just to add the brakes (i think rears) were doing a hell of a lot of squeeking today but i put it down to it being such a wet day.

hmm maybe a wheel cylinder, remove the drums and check the cylinder from being damp , usually you pull the rubber seal back and fluid oozes out.

most probably rear beak cylinders fella, my old GSi had this problem.. guy who bought it off me changed them and bang breaks are back to normal again..

if the bolts arnt completely rusted and foobared then its drums off, then break pipe out the back, then 2 8mm bolts and they pop out.

check your fluid level first, if its below minimum or dropped significanly you know you have fluid leaking

Ok just got back
They seemed fine coming home today? which is weird as there was 100% summat up yesterday 
Fluid level is fine I checked before I left bham.
Not sure what to do now I think I might just whack 2 new rear drums on or something..mabi new discs and pads at front an give it fresh fluid.
