I have insurance with Orange, will they issue me a new phone if I tell them the truth?
Or Is there a specific story to get past all the "you were not taking care pf the phone" stuff?
Cheers

Nope, they'll know it was water damaged as soon as it's sent back. If you don't have insurance they might offer you a refurbished phone but you'll probably have to pay for it.

firstly (aslong as you havent tried to switch it on) stick it in the airing cupboard for a day or 2 so its totally dried out may work again.
But i doubt the insurance will cover water damage.

Go into the police station, say you think it's been stolen. Get a crime reference number.
It takes less than 5 minutes.

I had insurance on my phone years ago, I dropped three in water and each was replaced.

Depends on the what insurance you had. I once had 3 months cover for free that covered accidental damage, including moisture. However the premium afterwards was shocking.
Or you can commit fraud/deception like Alex is suggesting

You take out insurance so that your covered if your phone gets lost / stolen or damaged.
So im sure they would replace it for water damage
