When i play certain songs in, well any player, they sound as if they are double speed, and skipping constantly.
Only certain albums are doing it, and they never used to :S
any ideas?

i sadly have a degree in computing, so i took a stab at codecs, but seems they are both up to date and whatever else. They are playing at a very high bit rate, wonder if it's to do with that? Can i cut the bit rate in half for example?

Most likely sample rates and your soundscards output isn't being set correctly - check to see what the file is (44/48/88/96/192k etc) and see what your audio card is set at (usually 44/48k on standard cards), change it accordingly.

You sure that's the sample rate, rather than the bitrate of the compressed audio file? 324KHz is some sampling rate if it is (it's sounds like the bitrate, VBR bitrate at that, to me )
Though, bitrates don't tend to affect the playing speed, samples rate do however. And as it's a recent fault (the audio files played fine a few days ago etc) then i would still hazard a guess that the soundcard is set to the wrong sample rate (depends on your soundcard whether you have control over the output/input SRs).
However, i know there was issues a while back if you used winamp to add ID3v2 details that it would cause the file to play back at double speed, it could possibly be that although this was fixed a while back.
