Megapixels do not matter.

Its a very good starter camera if you want to get into DSLR's

i got into photography with a canon D30 the first DSLR canon made completley on their own, you can pick em up for around £100 ish on ebay, dont be put off by the 3mp sensor, there a great camera for there age and with a full manual setting there a brilliant camera to learn on, you can get some pretty decent results too if you get a fairly good lens.
