for more bass (nigh on double that of a sealed item) but a bit more 'specific', they will only play to a set fz (frequency) though above that or below it u get a poor response. ported boxes are usually smaller than sealed boxes (not much though)
sealed, better woofer control at high level, u dont have to be accurate with sizing the box, loose 3db (about half as much as a ported box)
if u have specs for the subs to build a box then use them.

If you don't know understand the principles of making a box leave anything other than a sealed box alone.
you've less chance of fuckin your subs if you don't make the sub box correct. if you aim for about 1 cubic foot per sub then you'll be about right(sealed box). but check the sub specs first.
Try reading this site before you attempt to make a box, this will enlighten you on what its all about, and why getting it right is the difference between a good sound that lasts, and a shit sound that will kill subs.
