Biggest mistake he ever made telling fergie he would sign for them and then signing for tottenham
Fergie would have kept him under wraps and not made him the mess he is today
I thought rooney would end up like gazza but he's in the right place

Then again, would he have dared step out of line to begin with? Had he played at a team constantly challenging and winning trophies maybe he would have had more regard for his position.

You say that but at the time he wasn't seen as the same person as what he is today, he had won nothing with The Scum at that point.

Giggs could have easily gone the same way, you'll have probably heard about the time Fergie crashed a party and Giggs hid because he was smashed! Most managers don't really have the conviction to single a player out for punishments but still get respected at the same time, what would C.Ronaldo and Rooney have been like if they were at different clubs?
