Wife has a Corsa B 1.2 8v she would like power steering! Been offered a rack, I would need also a resevior etc!! However, I believe that they drain quite a bit of engine power! So....could I pull off an electric rack from a Corsa C and put it on the B and upgrade the battery!????
Sorry for long post
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Mark

ive been looking at doing this, you will need, rack, resovoir, all the piping, the pump (needs to be the right one). luckily i have my bros car to copy it, looks quite hard to get to the rack though, scared i may have to remove half the engine to get to it

Why fit power steering in a Corsa? I can't see how the work/cost will justify the benefit

Would it not be easyer to fit the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) system found on later models to the car? You wouldent need the pump and resivoir and all the pipeing? Suppose you might need an ecu and a loom though? But another good aspect is that it wouldent drain the little engine of any more power like a pump will.

Of course it will. Admittedly probably not as much as the pump, but where do you suppose this electricity comes from!? Have you never seen the rev counter dip when you switch your headlights on when sitting still? The extra load on the electrical sysem makes the alternator more difficult to turn.

Your perfectly correct! but only when the motor is under load. In a straight line its probably gonna use bugger all power. Where as the pumps always being driven? hmmm, but then again the pump only meets load when turning the wheel. Err. not sure you know? good point! but i recon the EPS is still gonna sap less power than a pump? no way of knowing i suppose. Oh well, id still go for EPS.
