I think its he old one that goes back on, but even though, dam impressive, i would end up with a screwdiver jammed in pulley

Impressive. I've seen a timing belt being changed by cutting the belt down the middle while the engine is running. Sit the new one half on and cut the rest of the old one off.

seen this at work, the guys there said it was the old belt which would have been the right slack for the pulleys
still damn impressive!

Or doing timing chains by chopping the old chain, joining the new one then turning the engine while keeping tension takes it through the pulleys, then when the new chain reappears after doing a full 'revolution' join it up again. I was talking to the paw about this just the other day, never seen it done but sounds impressive.
