If you can get an application pack, fill it in and see how you get on.
only 36

You'd fit right in Doyle, totally incompetent and of no use to anyone, also most likely got bullied at school.

on my intake was nearly 1000 applicants and 8 of us got through the recruitment process. I love it, best job ever. Was due to finish at 10pm and still sat here now doing paperwork!

How long does it take and what do you have to do before you find out if you have got through the recruitment process?

majority of what we do is paperwork and I'm a core response officer! Was 5:45 when I got away, got the lock up at 20:20! By the time statements were taken, 2 hour interview, and putting the file together

took me 18 months! Initial papersift with the application form, then the assessment centre day, which has maths and English tests, interview, role plays, etc, then I had final interview infront of a board of 4, then medical test, fitness test and final vetting process. You find out shortly after each stage if you've been successful, and date for next stage.

never done an office job before! Interview at assessment centre is one on one, comprised of 4 questions, and lasted about an hour, it's marked on several sections such as communication skills, race and diversity etc. Questions are about siuations you've been in, how you dealt with then etc, or how you'd deal with hyperthetical scenarios. Each requires like a 15 minute answer which is quite a while to talk for, but they ask odd little questions and get you to elaborate on what you've said.
Final interview was a panel of 4 and most forces don't do this, but Durham does. It was basically to get an idea about why I wanted to work for Durham, how much I knew about the force, it's objectives etc, and what I'm expecting from the job (a lot if people fail here as they come into the job really niave and get such a shock!)

Are the applicants shit or are the force really fussy?
I just dont see the logic. They are always banging on about lack of officers, yet accept about 1 out of every 100

Force really fussy as far as trying to get the right person for the job. Costs thousands per employee for recruitment process, training and all the kit we have, don't want to hire people that will drop out after few months.
Yeah we're short of officers, nothing to do with being fussy when hiring, it's down to money the force gets. Last night out of our station we had 3 officers on for whole area, that's 1 double crewed panda and one acting sergeant on his own. If it kicks off, you're fucked to be fair
