Right, due to lack of arch liners in the bay, the Green Cotton air filter (cone) is fooked and due for replacement.
Arch liners are due to be refitted and then I'm hoping to fit a de-restricted air box with panel filter.
What complications are there? I know it'll be a tight fit.
Can I fit a box off say a 1.2 8V? Or do I need to get one off a Calibra / Cav that had a C20XE fitted originally?
Any mods need to be made to the pipe it fits on to, AFM etc etc?
Any info will be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Rich

I've heard the best box to fit is actually the 1.2 8v, long as the AFM is in place, the airbox will deffo fit, then just a case of forcing that pipe between the box/AFM sure you can do it.

If that's the case, then one of the many 1.2 8V's will be getting relieved of it's airbox and arch liners at the scrappy on Saturday

1.2 8v has in own sensor in it does it not? Exclusive to the C12/14NZ engine.
I thought the small block XE ones would be best.

Does it? I never noticed that on my old 1.2 8v? Will have a look at all my options in the scrappy then. Most of them in there are 1.2 8v's

You'll need a 1.6 one. Wilson has fitted one to his, it looks so much better.

my 'how to' from my MIG project thread:
http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/projects-restorations/327064-vauxhall-corsa-2-0-xe-club-6.html
Halfway down the page. Felt so much nicer than having a cone filter fitted; and so easy to do aswell.

Cheers Dave. Will see if I can relieve a 1.4 / 1.6 Astra or Tigra or something of one if necessary.

got a standered airbox in mine from a corsa sport 1.6 with a k&n panel filter. Its a very tight fit but imo its better than a open cone filter.

your need a GSI one rich, as iirc the gsi had the AFM and the sports had the ATS, which allowed for a much smaller diameter outlet meaning you wont get a reducer from the xe afm to the sport box

C16XE GSI one is the best airbox to use, as the outlet is alot bigger than all the others
just need to chop the 2 notches off it, where the bolt holes are
and use the SFI Box rubber doughnut for join it to the afm

Cheers guys for all your input. Had a poke around at the local scrapyards today and had no luck - had a look at a 1.4 Tigra one and it's tiny! Fazza you'll have a PM in a second mate!
