I have the 60GB one and it has a switch on the back of the TV lead that allows you to switch it to HD.
Mine is a year old

i think you can get live for about £26, i want to say off ebay but ive never actually looked.
My console came with a HDMI cable but it was yonks ago i got it, one of the first ones.
