if you have used manual settings the only thing i could comment on is maybe the iso is out, and some of the pics look out of focus?. but then again im still learning

ISO Settings...I think they were to high...is it right to keep the iso lower but have a longer shutter speed?

if you want the image 'clean' use a lower iso as possible, if you want grain then raise it. But if you use a lower iso the camera needs more light to get the detail so you need to compensate by using a bigger aperture (a smaller F number, eg F2.8, F4.0 etc) or a slower shutter speed. However if you use a smaller aperture you get a more shallow depth of field and obviously with the slower shutter speed you would need a tripod or similar.

It also looks like a monopod has been user (as seen in the pictures) - Monopods are NOT for Long exposures... They are mainly used for panning, hence why some may not look sharp.

They all look a little OOF. The light looks quite dim so a tripod would be the only way to go using a remote or self timer to fire the shutter.
When using a tripod keep the ISO as low as the camera will allow and turn on the in camera noise reduction.
Are these shots straight from the camera? If so try shooting RAW (.NEF) as this will allow you to sort the white balance and adjust the exposure with ease.

that is my mate with the mono pod. He took pics with his cannon. I will have a play around with the iso settings and see if I can get a better result Thanks
