Po'LoW' pRoJeCt!!

i have still got my mk1 golf but taking on another project, its my mums polo 1.4 8v 6n, its done 140k miles and this morning the engine give up, she was going to scrap it but its a shame so i said i would take it off her hands, cant grumble for free anyway so..

main thing is the obvious, get a new engine then theres going to be a few exterior changes, but the main thing is to have a funky cheap daily runner for next year..

will get pics etc up asap.

like i said main thing is to get a new engine fitted but it will be low at some stage

have got a few plans for it but im just a little worried about the wheel choice, because i want to do it on a budget so cant get no fancy wheels, but dont want shite wheels either

made a small start on it today, just moved it to a part of the drive where its going to stay and took a few things off in the bay, should of got more done but been in and out the house all day doing other things..

heres a few pictures..

having 2nd thoughts on whether i should take it on as a project or just scrap it, as i will have my mk1 golf and this as projects and not have no money for a daily runner..

i could start using the mk1 as a daily car but its a little backwards having a mk1 as a daily and a polo 6n as a project lol

main thing is the engine as soon as thats in everything else is straight forward..

just thinking i dont want to chuck much money into it..

plans are:

engine (1.4 8v)
wheels
coilovers
tidy it up (exterior) or budget respray
strip the rear out
steering wheel

Just fix it up and sell it on to make more money towards a better daily or more mods to the Mk1?

You'll only mod this then get bored and sell it at a loss if not!

the bodywork is rough though got surface rust all over the passenger arch, scuffs on bumpers, dents etc..

i was tempted to sort all these out and paint it satin green or another kool colour, set of coilovers (£170 for the cheaper coilovers) nice wheels (£200 with tyres) few more bits, and i could put it up for £1k which i would easily get imo..

My mate has one of these Jay. P reg 1.6 with coilovers, metallic green, matte black roof, 60k and I swear it's mint. Did some work on it the other day and there is not a spot of rust underneath. he paid just £1000 for it and is building it into a smart Euro car. Beginning to get a soft spot for them as they look awsome.

little update, new rimmage!

been busy all day mopping my mates mk4 escort, but the guy brought them down to me (thanks to ecclesturbo) there quite rough condition, very poorly painted but i paid the price for them tbh so cant grumble..

while i was at my mates work (works for a wheel repair company) so i used some equipment there, got the tyres straight off because they wer shot, and refurbed the lip and got all the kerbing marks out (polished now), started refurbing one wheel but carried on doing my mates car..

heres a pic of my wheel choice, not the norm for vw polos which is kool..

not sure on the colour just yet, so any ideas welcome

I had a set of Vaux wheels for mine but changed my mind, got some other aftermarket ones instead (both were free of charge from my dads work )

Should look pretty nice I think!

little modification

just worried that i may have to run spacers because of the offset, they may sit to much into the arch to cause problems..

if it needs a new engine put an afh in it. 1.4 16v 100bhp as standard and very very easy to tune up. if you do decide o put another 1.4 8v or a 1.6 8v then try get ur hands on a mk1 1.6 gt camshaft as they are a nice improvement on the shit standard cam even without a remap.

sorry hijack ur thread but here is a pic of my old valver lukly it had the added extra of the little spoiler. only seen a few with it on. lowerd 40mm, defo needed lowering 60mm at least.

best car ive ever owned. better than either of my puntos. my saxo or my corsa i have now.
