Bascially i need a new dvd player, one that upscales and i would like to get some better sound coming from my tv. I dont want to spend a fortune £200 max, no more.
Went to my local stores and tried out a couple of LG ones that seem to sound pretty good via a music cd, i was very suprised by the sound tbh.
I have a sony TV but i was not to impressed by their surround sound in this price range.
Any thoughts on these
HT33S
This is a 2.1 surround sound, this has a optical in for using my PS3 games, however i assume it plays them in stereo being that its 2.1, though through a optical lead it should sound a bit better surely.
the second cheaper option
HT304SU
This one has the benefit of playing my dvds in 5.1, however this does not have a optical in, so it will only play my PS3 games and music in 2.1 like the other model.

so i hear, am i right in thinking the above 2 are basically the same really as though the top one has optical in, its only got 2 speakers so will only play stereo anyway, the bottom one has 5.1 but because not optical in it will only play stereo, 2.1 via phono in.
mmm its hard, as its only to go in a bedroom to replace the stereo and to get slightly better sound then the standard tv speakers, alot of other systems seem to be a bit more money, look a bit shabby or dont sound that great like the sony dav system tested in store at £190 on special

PS3 sends 5.1 down HDMI doesn't it?
Only mainstream device I can think of which requires optical, is SkyHD.

huh
not sure but even if it does how does that sound reach the cinema system though, coz the ps3 plugs into the tv, how would the sound reach the cinema system?

I thought you were buying a proper AV receiver that would receive the HDMI input from the PS3, then output to TV and surround speakers... sorry - didn't read the post properly.
