tonite i had an aciedent in my 106 gti..(wrote it off) i slid sideways into a 30mph sign and bent all the posts n tore the posts out of the ground..the police sed i have to phone the highways agency on monday and tell them what i did...has this hapend to anyone else and how much did they have to pay the council or highways agency to repair the sign?? thanks
and would i have to go through insurance

I imagine you will have to go through insurance mate. Those posts believe it or not will cost a bomb.

When i crashed into a bollard and knocked it over about 20degs, the council charged 325£ to put it right.

The highways agencys will rape you financially for one of them signs. £529 for 2 men to come out and put oil obsorbent powder on a litre of oil.

yeh i thought it would cost me loads..erm i was driving out of a 30 zone to a national speed limit zone ...the sighn had 2 posts and a bent one post and tore it out of the ground...

If it's cheap, pay it. Saves your NCB, which I'm guessing is rather small

If you've wrote your car off, the sign is the least of your worries going through the insurance or not.

He drives a 106 Gti though,i suspect he has a few ncb. Say an easy 500 for the sign and say 2k for the car?
