it also has the bonus of being able to be bored out to a 2 litre if it is worn, meaning standard 20xe pistons with new rings can be fitted making a cheap, mint condition c20xe

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

proof that it has been looked after and not under/over filled with oil? regular oil changes? correct antifreeze in the winter? never over heated in the summer?proof it hasn't had 38,000 miles of getting it's arse ragged?

I wouldn't believe a word anyone says about a second hand engine tbh!

yeah, it would be cheaper to get that to a 2litre and have it all rebuilt than doing it to a 20xe to start

What i meant was to use the block to do a 20xe rebuild rather than bore out to 2.1 and spend 600 on new pistons

i was at the autosport show at the nec yesterday and jre race engines had a c20xe which they claimed was a 2.5 running 350+ bhp

i was under the impression that 2.1 was the max one could be took to, unless they have made a special crank to change the stroke

qed used to make a 2.4 alloy block. Still dont think you can actually get to 2100cc on an xe. Can get close but its still about 20cc short so not quite a 2.1 most people who have a small over bore assume its next size up which means 2.1 but likely its gone from 1998cc to 2010cc or something.
